JKMAX heated blanket and heating pad recall: how to check yours

About 195,000 JKMAX electric blankets and heating pads are recalled after overheating reports and burn injuries. Check the controller or packaging before using one.

The US Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall of all heated blankets and heating pads sold by JKMAX on September 17, 2026. The internal wire heating elements can overheat, creating fire and burn hazards. CPSC says about 195,000 units are affected.

Stop using it while you check

If you have a JKMAX heated blanket or heating pad, unplug it and do not use it while identifying the product. CPSC's remedy is to stop using affected blankets and pads immediately and contact JKMAX for a full refund. Do not assume that a unit is safe because it has not shown visible damage.

Which products are included?

The recall covers all heating pads and heated blankets sold by JKMAX. CPSC lists models JKMAX-002, JKMAX-7284B, JKMAX-6284B, JKMAX-10090B and JKMAX-8490B. The federal notice itself repeats JKMAX-6284B in its model list; this guide removes that duplicate without adding any unlisted model.

The products are blue, gray, brown or red polyester, came in multiple sizes and have a detachable white controller. The model number is printed on the back of the controller and on a white label attached to the packaging beside the JKMAX brand name. Colour or size alone is not enough to rule a product in or out.

Why the recall matters

JKMAX reported 577 incidents involving blankets smoking, melting or burning because the heating elements overheated. Those reports include 53 burn injuries. The number of reports does not predict what any individual unit will do, but it is a clear reason to follow the stop-use instruction now rather than waiting for signs of failure.

Where and when they were sold

The products were sold online at Amazon.com from September 2022 through July 2026, as single units and two-packs. Search the order history for the purchaser's account if the packaging is gone. Keep a screenshot or copy of the order record, photographs of the product and controller, and the model number for the refund request.

How to request the refund

  1. Stop using and unplug the blanket or pad.
  2. Photograph the product and the model number on the back of its white controller.
  3. Check the packaging label or Amazon order history if available.
  4. Contact JKMAX through the recall website, by phone at 800-917-5732 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Eastern, Monday through Friday, or by email at JkmaxRecall@outlook.com.
  5. Follow the company's current refund instructions and retain the confirmation.

CPSC's notice does not direct consumers to keep using the product at a lower setting, repair it at home or merely replace the controller. Follow the published refund process rather than improvising a fix.

If you are in Canada

This is a United States CPSC recall covering products sold on Amazon.com. A Canadian household may still own one through travel, resale or cross-border ordering, but this US notice does not establish the remedy or legal status in Canada. Stop using a matching product, contact JKMAX, and also search the Government of Canada's recalls and safety alerts database for any Canadian notice. Do not claim a Canadian remedy that the responsible authority has not confirmed.

After checking

Save the CPSC recall number, 26-778, with your refund record. If a blanket or pad has smoked, melted, burned or caused an injury, keep people away from it and contact local emergency services if there is an active fire or immediate danger. Product incidents can also be reported through CPSC's SaferProducts.gov system.
